On March 8, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) published a special edition of its Supervisory Highlights report that focused on back-end fees charged to consumers in connection with deposits, auto servicing, mortgage servicing, payday and small-dollar lending, and student loan servicing. Prominent Michigan attorney Geoffrey Fieger, 72, had a stroke earlier this month and is now in active rehabilitation, his wife and a business associate said Wednesday. In a statement, Keenie Fieger said that her husband had an elective procedure March 1 for a minor heart arrhythmia. An NWT Supreme Court judge has signed off on an order to appoint another lawyer to potentially help Devon Larabie represent himself in his murder trial later this year. That’s if Larabie dismisses his current lawyer before the trial. Larabie is scheduled to go on trial Nov. 14 for second degree murder in the death of Breanna Menacho, whose body was found in a Yellowknife apartment in May 2020.
