Former US Attorney Barbara McQuade argued that Donald Trump’s attempts to prevent his former Vice President Mike Pence from giving testimony will “fail” and will only serve to delay the special counsel’s investigation.
Pence was subpoenaed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on February 9, after negotiations between his team and special counsel Jack Smith reportedly broke down. The former vice president is being compelled to testify before a grand jury about Trump’s involvement in the attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The former vice president is considered a key witness in the case, as one…

The decline in demand for legal work last year followed years of growth driven by a boom in mergers and acquisitions work, prompting the hiring of sheets accompanied by six-figure bonuses for even lower-level attorneys. Firm expenses increased in 2022, colliding with…

A New York appellate court held in December that the Oneida County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) had no authority to condemn property for a hospital parking lot. The court explained in a rather cursory opinion that under the IDA’s enabling legislation, its “statutory purposes” —and thus its use of eminent domain—were restricted to the development of “commercial facilities.” The court noted that “healthcare-related facilities” weren’t included in any of the IDA’s statutory purposes and then concluded that the proposed condemnation would not be for a “commercial purpose” because the property wasn’t being…

In a lawsuit filed in state court in Manhattan, Attorney General Letitia James sought to block four Centers nursing homes in New York from admitting new residents until they were sufficiently staffed, and to hire financial and healthcare monitors to oversee their compliance.
James is also asking the court to force Centers, its owners Kenneth Rozenberg and Daryl Hagler and…
Former state attorney Moshe Lador has assailed the conduct of judges in the trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after they advised the prosecution and the defense behind closed doors that with most of the prosecution’s witnesses heard, they believe the bribery charge against the prime minister in one of the cases against him will be hard to substantiate.
The judges’ comments earlier this month immediately leaked, and this week they confirmed making them. Prosecutors have remained steadfast in their belief that they have a strong case on the bribery charge against the premier. (The accusation is the most serious…
